Quick Summary

Session 3 marked a pivotal moment for the crew as they dealt with the aftermath of a bar fight and explored the mysterious statue of Pirate King Henry. The session opened mid-combat, with Ronan (Llewyn’s dog companion) performing a brutal finishing attack, followed by Nora’s vicious mockery driving an opponent to suicide through emotional damage.

After the brutal combat conclusion, the party explored the interior of the massive Pirate King Henry statue, discovering seven rooms dedicated to different members of the Warlords of the Sea - a powerful faction previously unknown to most of the party. This exploration revealed crucial world-building information: the Warlords are a significant power structure similar to the Shichibukai, working with the government while maintaining independence.

Most shocking was the discovery that Chief Bjorn (the corrupt chief killed in Session 1/2) was actually a former Warlord of the Sea, and that Snippy the Clown (their current employer) is also a Warlord. The party also discovered a mysterious golden globe containing a Log Pose marked “Genesis 39” - a religious/navigational artifact that may hold significance for Sylen.

The session also introduced Silas, a new barbarian who joined the group, and saw Flynn demonstrating impressive combat prowess with natural 20s. The running “belt joke” reached absurd heights with Gluthoric obsessively checking every enemy for metal belts to manipulate.

The Tavern (Combat Conclusion)

Description: Weathered establishment that’s seen extensive violence. Bartender utterly unfazed by carnage, treats deadly bar fight as routine business. Notable Features:

  • Performance stage with instruments
  • Talking bass fish decoration on wall

Atmosphere: Despite violence, maintains casual tavern atmosphere where combat is expected and accepted as daily life.

Statue of Pirate King Henry

Contains large building structure within, accessible to visitors. Behind statue stands burnt building (not recent, but not ancient either). Interior consists of seven distinct chambers, each dedicated to different Warlord of the Sea.

Historical Significance: All rooms show signs of coordinated fire damage with heavy soot and ash, suggesting attack or disaster affected entire structure. The seven Warlords appear to have been honored here as significant figures in world’s power structure.

Room Layout:

  1. Little John - Half-sized furniture
  2. Puma - Jungle theme, catwalk
  3. Chief Bjorn - Nordic theme (FORMER VILLAIN)
  4. Unknown Green-Haired Man - Control panel room

Mysteries & Hooks

The Warlords of the Sea

Discovery: Seven chambers in Pirate King Henry’s statue, each dedicated to different Warlord

Key Questions:

  • What is Warlords’ relationship with government?
  • Why were they honored in Pirate King Henry’s statue?
  • What caused fire that damaged all chambers?
  • When did Warlords fall from power (if they have)?
  • Why does Snippy (current Warlord) need to hire pirates for bounty work?

Implications:

  • Party killed Chief Bjorn (former Warlord) - potential consequences?
  • Working for Snippy (Warlord) - what’s his agenda?
  • Warlords work with government but pirates still target them
  • Similar power structure to Shichibukai in canon One Piece

The Log Pose - “Genesis 39”

Item: Golden globe containing Log Pose marked “Genesis 39” Current Holder: Llewyn Found: Room 5 (Rona’s chamber)

Mysteries:

  • What is “Genesis 39” - location, biblical reference, or something else?
  • Why was it hidden in Rona’s chamber?
  • Does it point to specific island or destination?
  • Connection to Sylen’s religion (Sol worship)?
  • Is it literal biblical Genesis chapter 39? (Story of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife)

Potential Significance:

  • Religious artifact that could interest Sylen
  • Navigation tool that works differently than standard Log Poses
  • Could lead to important location
  • Rona may have hidden it for safekeeping

The Fire at the Statue

Evidence:

  • All seven rooms show heavy fire damage
  • Soot and ash throughout
  • Building behind statue “set ablaze some time ago”
  • Damage is old but not ancient

Questions:

  • Was this attack on Warlords?
  • Did all seven fall at once?
  • Who had power to destroy facility honoring Warlords?
  • Was it government purge, rival pirates, or internal conflict?
  • Why hasn’t it been rebuilt or restored?

Clues:

  • Sigmund’s room completely looted (by him before fire, or looters after?)
  • Portraits and some valuables remain (not thoroughly looted)
  • Structure still stands (attack wasn’t total destruction)

Room 4’s Control Panel

Location: Fourth chamber (green-haired man’s room) Features: Control panel with all buttons destroyed except one big red button

Mysteries:

  • What did control panel operate?
  • Why is only red button functional?
  • What is red button’s purpose? (Currently just electrocutes)
  • Who was green-haired young man?
  • Technology seems advanced for this setting

Evidence:

  • Button gives 1d4 electric damage when pressed
  • Panel appears intentionally damaged/sabotaged
  • Room has technological theme unusual for other chambers
  • May have controlled something in statue or on island

Snippy the Clown - The Employer Warlord

Status: Current employer who hired party for bounty hunting Revelation: He is a Warlord of the Sea

Questions:

  • Why does Warlord need to hire pirates?
  • Is he testing party for something?
  • Does he know they killed Chief Bjorn (fellow Warlord)?
  • What’s his relationship with remaining Warlords?
  • Why is he operating from circus motif chamber?

Concerns:

  • Can they collect bounties from someone who works with government?
  • Is this trap or genuine employment?
  • Will killing targets put them on government radar?

The Violinist’s Role

Suspicious Elements:

  • Played calmly during deadly combat
  • Party suspects her music might have incited fight
  • Tried to leave immediately after combat ended

Questions:

  • Was her music magical/hypnotic?
  • Did she deliberately start bar fight?
  • Is she connected to larger conspiracy?
  • Why was she at that specific tavern?

Status: May have left; party didn’t detain her

Chief Bjorn’s True Identity

Revelation: The “corrupt chief” killed in Session 1/2 was a Warlord of the Sea

Implications:

  • Party killed government-affiliated power without knowing
  • Potential bounty on their heads now?
  • Did other Warlords know about his corruption?
  • Was his exile to northern island punishment or assignment?
  • Will there be consequences for killing Warlord?
